Police, council officers and youth workers have joined forces to tackle the negative impact anti-social behaviour can have on residents. The newly formed Anti-Social Behaviour Forum is made up of members from a number of organisations working hard to improve how anti-social behaviour in the district is dealt with. Cllr Sarah Hill, chairman of the Harborough District Community Safety Partnership, said: “The partnership brings a number of organisations together at forum meetings to ensure we tackle anti-social behaviour. I encourage everyone to take a stand and report such negative behaviour to the police.” At each of the six-weekly meetings the group will discuss a variety of anti-social behaviour from problems in towns and villages to drink-related issues, as well as tackling how problems can be solved. A monthly report is also provided showing where current complaints are located allowing the forum members take target certain areas and help improve the quality of life for residents. At the September meeting of the forum areas experiencing anti-social behaviour included Logan Street in Market Harborough, Main Street in Thurnby, School Road in Kibworth, Crescent Road in Lutterworth and Trefoil Close in Broughton Astley. People can report abandoned vehicles and noise complaints to the council by ringing 01858 82 82 82. All other anti-social behaviour should be reported to the police on 01662 222 2 222. The Forum will next meet on Wednesday, October 25. The meeting is not open to the public however people can get more information by contacting the community safety team on 01858 82 82 82 or by emailing communitysafety@harborough.gov.uk. |
