Dear Sir/Madam

PROPOSED LOCAL PLANNING APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
I am writing on behalf of all the local authorities to inform you that as of the 6th
April 2008 a set of common, national, planning application forms are to be a
mandatory requirement and National standards for the validation of applications are
also being introduced.
The Government is also leading an initiative to empower and encourage Local
Authorities to prescribe additional information they require with an application in
order to allow it to be processed. This is intended to reflect local circumstances and,
fundamentally, to ensure all the relevant information is submitted at submission stage,
rather than in subsequent phases. This is intended to improve efficiencies in the
consultation and notifications stages and to reduce delays in applications, i.e. that a 'full
set' of information will be available from the outset to all parties, rather than it being
'drip fed' following later submissions.
Planning Authorities of Leicestershire and Rutland have considered the local
requirements and have identified the information required in the context of different
application types. These requirements can be viewed at
www.charnwood.gov.uk/democracy/localplanningrequirementsconsult.html
or any of Local Authorities planning receptions. Your comments on the these
requirements, together with any other you may consider helpful, would be
appreciated by 19th April 2008 in order that they can be considered in finalising the
requirements. Please respond to consultation@charnwood.gov.uk or send to
