Hazel Blears, the Secretary of State for Communities and
Local Government, has now published for public consultation the Proposed Changes to the East Midlands Regional Plan (Regional Spatial Strategy). The Regional Plan provides a regional framework for development and investment over the next fifteen to twenty years, and is part of the statutory development plan for every local authority in the East Midlands.
Comments are invited on these Proposed Changes, which are available to view at www.gos.gov.uk/goem. The Proposed Changes build on the foundations of the draft Regional Plan and take account of the recommendations of the independent panel appointed to conduct the Examination in Public held from 22nd May to 19th July 2007 in Leicester and Lincoln. Please note that the consultation relates to the Proposed Changes rather than those parts of the Plan which are unchanged since the draft Plan was consulted upon in 2006.

The consultation ends at 1700hrs on 17th October 2008
